To help educate high school students about the dangers of drinking and driving, Floresville High School will host Shattered Dreams on campus the morning of Friday, April 19, 2024.
After a mock 911 call is played over the school’s loudspeaker, juniors and seniors will be released out of class to watch the dramatization of an alcohol-related crash scene unfold. At this time, residents can expect to see and/or hear local first responders rushing to the campus, including AirLife, Fire & EMS, officers from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, Floresville Police Department and DPS, Emergency Care of Floresville, and a funeral hearse. The activity during the program might affect traffic around Floresville High School and Floresville South Elementary.
Once the accident scene is cleared, students will return to class as regularly scheduled. Counselors will be available throughout the day and ready to assist anyone who may be affected by the mock accident scene.
Shattered Dreams is only for high school students and not open to the public. The program will take place the day before the Class of 2024 Prom and is being presented by the FHS Student Council DASH Committee, in coordination with local emergency services, officials, and businesses.
Floresville High School students and families can expect to receive additional details about this event, including opt-out information, in the upcoming days.
